Journeys & Exploration | In the Footsteps of Ibn Battuta
Join us for Lingo Summer Camp 2026 in Roseville and Elk Grove for an enriching summer experience that brings together Arabic language, art, culture, and exploration in a joyful and engaging environment. This is more than a typical summer camp. It is a daily adventure where children discover the beauty of Arabic, explore the arts and traditions of different Arab countries, and enjoy meaningful hands-on learning that sparks curiosity, expands imagination, and creates lasting memories.
At our camp, children will learn through a rich variety of activities, including Arabic language lessons, Arabic calligraphy, embroidery, cooking, and storytelling. Each day is designed to blend learning with creativity and fun, giving campers the chance to explore, create, ask questions, and connect with Arab culture in a lively and memorable way.
This Year’s Theme
This year’s camp theme is “Ibn Battuta: Journeys and Exploration.”
Campers will follow in the footsteps of the famous traveler Ibn Battuta, discovering some of the Arab countries he visited and learning about their arts, cultures, and traditions. Through this inspiring theme, children will be encouraged to explore the world with curiosity, imagination, and an open mind. The idea of using travel as a bridge to culture and discovery closely reflects the 2026 Al-Bustan camp theme centered on Ibn Battuta’s Rihla.
Who Was Ibn Battuta?
Ibn Battuta was a famous Muslim traveler known for his extraordinary journeys, which he documented in his travel account known as the Rihla. Over the course of about 29 years, he traveled across the Arab world and far beyond, recording the people, places, customs, and cultures he encountered. His journeys continue to inspire generations to explore, learn, and connect across cultures. In this camp, we will bring that spirit of adventure to life as children imaginatively “visit” some of the places he once explored.
